From Oct. 8 to 11, 2026, the free light-and-art festival runs 7 to 11 p.m. on both sides of the Ohio River. Covington is the Kentucky zone this year. Newport sits it out. Cincinnati still has the bigger map. You can do a full night without leaving Kenton County first.

What it is / why it matters here
BLINK is a four-night public art festival. Projections hit buildings. Light sculptures sit in the street. New murals stay after the crowds leave. Official pages call it free and open. No ticket line.
For people in Boone, Kenton, and Campbell counties, the useful fact is simple. One of the six 2026 zones is Covington. The official footprint runs from Findlay Market in Cincinnati down to Covington. CityBeat's Sep. 25 map list names the zones as Findlay Market, OTR, Fountain, The Banks, Covington, and BLINK at Lytle Park.
Newport is not on that 2026 list. In June, BLINK co-founder Andrew Salzbrun told Movers & Makers the festival would not return to Newport this year, partly because bridge construction between Newport and Covington made a continuous path too hard. Plan dinner in Newport if you want. Do not plan on Newport installations.

LINK nky (Sep. 18) says Covington should see about 10 new murals, including work by Covington resident Chase Melendez at the new Covington City Hall. Organizers also talked earlier about pushing murals farther down Madison Avenue.
How you get in without getting stuck
- Roebling Suspension Bridge: closed to cars during BLINK. Still open for people walking between Covington and Cincinnati (City of Covington, Sep. 14).
- Driving from Cincinnati: use Clay Wade Bailey or Brent Spence.
- Driving from Newport: City of Covington points drivers to the Girl Scout Bridge (KY 1120 / 11th–12th Street bridge). Pedestrians and bikes can use TANK's free Licking River Link shuttle.
- TANK Park & Ride from Northern Kentucky University: Friday Oct. 9 and Saturday Oct. 10 only, 6–11 p.m., Lots K, L, and M, express to Covington Transit Center. Last bus to Covington is 9 p.m.; after that, return-only to NKU until 11 p.m. Cashless (Transit app).
- GEST carts: free on-demand rides on the NKY Connector between Covington and Newport; tip the driver if you want.
- Covington garages: RiverCenter, 10 RiverCenter Blvd; Midtown, 25 E. Fifth St.; City Center / Hotel Covington, 27 E. Pike St.; also Kenton County garage. Meter parking inside the Entertainment Destination Center is restricted 5–11 p.m. each festival night.
- Inside the footprint, streets close to cars. Official FAQ: enjoy it on foot. Cincinnati side also has free streetcar hops between stops.
- Nightly vehicle closures include Roebling Way and the Roebling Bridge, plus listed downtown streets, 6–11 p.m. Oct. 8–11. Use the City's latest list before you drive. Do not treat this article as the final traffic PDF.

Covington runs Entertainment Destination Centers 7–11 p.m. so people can carry alcohol bought from participating businesses in marked cups. Cincinnati, in short
Opening night replaces the old parade with "Ready. Set. BLINK!" around TQL Stadium in the West End, Oct. 8, from 4 p.m., with a lights-on / drone moment at sundown. Across the river you'll find the rest of the zones, Music Hall, Findlay and OTR mural density, The Banks, and an Ohio drone viewing area. Some Cincinnati unique attractions need reservations. One or two zones per night is the official advice. Come back.
