Where to Pick Pumpkins in Northern Kentucky

Pumpkin season is already starting in Northern Kentucky. Country Pumpkins opens first on September 12, Sugar Ridge follows on September 19, Neltner's Fall Fest starts September 25, and Kinman's Fall Fest opens September 26. McGlasson Farms is open daily into November.

The right farm depends on the kind of day you want. Some are full fall festivals with mazes and rides. One is better for a simple farm-market stop. A couple work well on weekdays when most festival attractions are closed.

Neltner's Farm

6922 Four Mile Road, Camp Springs

Neltner's is the traditional fall-festival choice. The farm lists horse-drawn wagon rides, a three-plus-acre corn maze, a smaller toddler maze, a pick-your-own pumpkin patch, petting zoo, kids' corn pit, barrel train, model train display, food, ice cream and a farm stand.

Weekend hours: Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Weekend admission: $7 for ages 3 and older. Horse-drawn wagon rides and the corn mazes are included. Pumpkins are sold separately.

Weekdays: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. There is no general admission charge. The large corn maze is $3 per person, and some activities have separate fees.

Worth knowing: Some activities are cash only, so bring both cash and a card.

Kinman Farm Market

4175 Burlington Pike, Burlington

Kinman's Fall Fest runs Friday through Sunday from September 26 through October 31.

Admission includes unlimited hayrides, the jumping pillow, corn maze, Manny's Corn Express and Maci Lou's Barnyard.

Admission: $15 per person, $10 for ages 65 and older, and free for children 2 and younger.

The farm market itself is open seven days a week.

Sugar Ridge Family Farm

12273 Green Road, Walton

Sugar Ridge's Fall Fest runs weekends from September 19 through October 25.

Admission includes a pie pumpkin, hay wagon ride, corn maze, hay-bale maze, petting zoo, playground, giant slides, climbing web, yard games, tractor trikes, kids' activities, photo spots and live music.

Admission: $12 per person. Children under 2 are free.

Some attractions cost extra, including the barrel train, inflatables and other add-ons.

Worth knowing: This is one of the easiest choices if you want most of the day planned in one place.

McGlasson Farms

5832 River Road, Hebron

McGlasson is a working six-generation fruit and vegetable farm with a roadside market, apple orchard and fall pumpkin patch.

The farm is open seven days a week from July 1 through the end of November. Fall pick-your-own opportunities include apples and pumpkins.

Worth knowing: Pick-your-own availability changes with weather and the crop, so call 859-689-5229 before making a special trip.

Country Pumpkins

1835 Sherman Mt. Zion Road, Dry Ridge

Country Pumpkins has the longest published fall season in this guide, running September 12 through November 1.

The farm offers a four-acre corn maze, hayrides, petting zoo, barrel train, play areas, pumpkin patch and other ticketed activities.

Rides run Friday after 5 p.m. and during weekend hours.

Worth knowing: Activity packages vary, so check what is included before buying tickets.

Want a bigger activity day? Kinman and Sugar Ridge both pack several kid-friendly activities into admission.

Want a weekday option? McGlasson is open daily. Neltner's also offers weekday farm access, and Country Pumpkins adds Monday and Thursday evening hours later in the season.

Want the longest season? Country Pumpkins runs through November 1, and McGlasson's farm market stays open through the end of November.

Mostly want pumpkins and apples? McGlasson keeps the focus closer to the farm and the produce.
